I just spoke with my mom a bit ago, and I'm thrilled to say that they survived the hurricane! Hooray! They currently do not have power or phone/Internet connection. Hurricane Omar was upgraded to a grade 3 hurricane overnight and came within 40 miles of Anguilla. They awoke to very, very strong winds and heavy rain, but that has given way to sunshine in the past couple of hours. There are the expected downed trees and some buildings closer to the ocean have sustained damage, but nothing else major so far. My dad is going into work at noon to survey the damage there. Hopefully it won't be too bad!
